Look, Ma — two hands!

Hasbro officially announced today that it’s expanding the My Little Pony brand with a new property: Equestria Girls, which will recast My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic‘s characters as human high-school students. As the toy company tells the New York Times, its brand extension will launch this summer with a full-length feature film called My Little Pony Equestria Girls. The movie’s set to premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival before being released in theaters nationwide June 16. Here’s an exclusive look at the movie’s official poster:

The plot of the film finds mane pony Twilight Sparkle entering an alternate universe in search of a crown that has been stolen from the Crystal Empire. There, she discovers that she’s been transformed into a teenage human girl. To find the one who committed the crime, the newly-crowned princess “must survive her biggest challenge yet,” according to the movie’s official description: “high school.”

Sounds pretty heady — though as this trailer proves, there should be plenty of comedy to complement the kooky parallel universe stuff.
