Finally, a mouse you’ll be pleased to welcome into your home!

Disney announced today that Mickey Mouse — the company’s 85-year-old mascot and spirit animal — is set to star in his own set of 19 new cartoon shorts, which will air on Disney Channel and Disney.com starting this June. The series, which is geared toward kids aged 6-14, will combine throwback and modern elements. It’ll be animated in old-fashioned, purposefully retro 2-D, for example, but will feature a few “contemporary touches” as well. Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, and Pluto will all appear in the shorts as well.

“By bringing Mickey’s comedic adventures to life with vitality, humor, inventiveness and charm, the entire Disney Television Animation team of artists, animators and directors have worked to capture the essence of what Walt Disney himself created 85 years ago,” Disney Channels Worldwide president Gary Marsh said in a statement.

Did they succeed? Judge for yourself by checking out the first short, “Croissant de Triomphe” — which also features a few cameos from other classic Disney characters — at Disney.com.

Mickey’s new series premieres Friday, June 28.
